1. Overview
Video Content Manager is developed by Awan Digitals as an offline-first Android application. The app does not declare the INTERNET permission, does not include any backend service, and does not require you to create an account or sign in. Everything you record in the app stays on your device. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the app stores and why.
2. Information We Store on Your Device
All content you create is written to a local Room/SQLite database named media_database and to the private internal storage of the app. Nothing is uploaded to Awan Digitals or any third party.
- Video references — the content URI of each video you select from your gallery, its original file name, and the optional alias you give it. The app stores a reference to the video, not a copy of the video file itself.
- Thumbnails — a JPEG preview frame extracted from each video and saved to the private internal storage folder of the app so your list loads quickly offline.
- Captions — every caption text you write for a video, including which one you mark as the active caption.
- Social platforms — the platform names you manage in the app. The app is preloaded with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok, and you may add, rename, or delete them.
- Publish status — a per-video, per-platform flag recording whether you have marked that video as published.
- App preferences — your dark theme choice, stored in a private SharedPreferences file named app_settings, and your language selection (Indonesian or English), stored by the Android per-app language setting.
The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK, and no user accounts. Uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or using Settings then Delete All Data permanently removes this information.
3. Device Permissions and Why They Are Needed
Video Content Manager requests only the media permissions declared in its AndroidManifest.xml:
- READ_MEDIA_VIDEO (Android 13 and newer) — allows the app to read the videos you explicitly pick so it can display them and generate thumbnails.
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13 and newer) — supports reading image media through the same Android Photo Picker flow used to add content.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12L and older only, maxSdkVersion 32) — the legacy equivalent of the two permissions above for older devices.
Videos are added through the Android system Photo Picker, so the app only ever gains access to the specific files you choose. The app requests persistable read access to those items so your list still works after a restart. It never scans your gallery in the background, and no camera, microphone, location, contacts, or notification permissions are requested. You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in Android Settings, Apps, Video Content Manager, Permissions.
4. Sharing Content to Other Apps
When you tap the share button for a platform, the app performs two local actions on your behalf and then hands control to Android:
- The active caption is copied to your device clipboard so you can paste it into the destination app.
- The Android share sheet is opened with the selected video attached, and you choose which app receives it.
From that point onward, the video and caption are handled by the destination app (for example Instagram or TikTok) under its own privacy policy, not ours. Awan Digitals never sees or transmits that content. The app also marks the video as published on that platform locally after you open the share sheet.
5. External Links
The About and menu screens contain buttons that open Awan Digitals websites (company.awandigitals.com, apps.awandigitals.com, and contribute.awandigitals.com) in your default browser. These links are opened only when you tap them, and the app sends none of your data along with them. Browsing those sites is governed by the privacy policy of the Awan Digitals website.
6. Third-Party Services, Analytics, and Ads
Video Content Manager contains no advertising SDK, no analytics or telemetry library, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, sell, rent, or trade your personal data, because the app never sends your data anywhere in the first place. The app is free and contains no in-app purchases.
7. Children Privacy
The application is not specifically targeted at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when new features change how data is handled. Any changes become effective immediately upon posting to this page with an updated Last Updated date.
