1. Overview
Travel Planner is a mobile application for planning trips offline. Your trips, places, lodging, transport, souvenirs, rundowns, and packing lists are stored only on your device. We do not operate any server, we do not require an account, and we never receive, collect, or sell your personal data.
2. Data You Create
Everything you enter — trip names, descriptions, dates, budgets, notes, contacts, map links, and coordinates — is written to a local SQLite database on your device using the sqflite library. Your preferences (theme, language, and currency) are kept in the app's local preferences storage. None of this is transmitted to us.
3. Map and Search Services
The Map tab and the location picker load map imagery and search results from third-party services. When you use these features, the coordinates of the map area you are viewing, or the text you type into the location search box, is sent to those providers so they can return the tiles or search results. We do not store this data and it is never linked to your identity. The services involved are:
- OpenStreetMap and CARTO — supply the map tiles shown on the Map tab and the location picker.
- Photon (photon.komoot.io) and Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — turn the place name you type into coordinates, and turn a point you tap on the map into an address.
- Google Maps — when you paste a Google Maps link, the app follows that link to read the coordinates out of it. Opening a saved place also hands the link over to Google Maps or your browser.
4. Location
The app asks for location access only when you tap the "my location" button on the Map tab. Your position is used to center the map and show a marker for where you are. It is used while the app is open, is never saved to the database, and is never sent to us. Declining the permission only disables that button; every other feature keeps working.
5. Files You Export
Backup files (.travelplanner) and single-trip files (.travelplannertrip) are written through your device's own save dialog, to a location you choose. Importing works the same way — you pick the file yourself. These files never pass through any server of ours, and once saved, what happens to them is entirely under your control.
6. Permissions
The app declares only the permissions it actually needs:
- INTERNET — Required to download map tiles, run location searches, and resolve Google Maps links. Without a connection the rest of the app still works offline.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — Required only for the "my location" button on the Map tab. Coarse location is included so the feature still works if you grant approximate location only.
7. No Ads, Analytics, or Accounts
Travel Planner contains no advertising SDK, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, and no advertising identifier. There is no sign-up, no login, and no in-app purchase.
8. Deleting Your Data
You are always in control of your data. Delete a single trip from its card menu, wipe everything at once with Reset Data in Settings, or uninstall the app to remove the local database entirely.
9. Children's Privacy
Travel Planner is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data. It is safe for users of all ages.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the 'Last Updated' date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
