1. Overview
Sholat & Dhikr is developed by Awan Digitals as a privacy-focused application. The prayer guides, supplications, and city lists are bundled inside the app, and prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled.
2. Information Collection and Storage
The app has no account or login and no backend server of its own. The following data is stored only on your device (SharedPreferences):
- Your last location: the coordinates, place name, time zone, and country of the location used for prayer times, and whether it came from GPS or from a city you chose.
- Settings: theme, interface language, calculation method, and Asr method.
- Bookmarks and counters: the prayer guides you bookmarked and the tasbih count for each dhikr.
Awan Digitals never receives this data. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes it. See sections 3 and 6 for what Android's own services may do.
3. Location and Network Use
To show prayer times and the Qibla direction for where you are, the app can use your device's location when you allow it. The app itself downloads nothing and has no server: prayer times are calculated on your device and the city lists are bundled. Two Android system services may use the network when your location is refreshed:
- Google Play services (fused location provider) determines the position of your device.
- Android's built-in geocoder turns your coordinates into a place name, so it may send them to the device's geocoding provider (usually Google). If it is unavailable, the app names the place from its own city list or shows the coordinates.
These services are provided and governed by Google and your device maker, not by Awan Digitals. If you prefer, do not allow location access and choose a city from the list instead; times and the Qibla direction are then based on that city. Links in the app (such as Awan Apps) open in your browser only when you tap them.
4. Device Permissions & Usage
The application requests the following Android permissions:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: to find your position for prayer times and the Qibla direction. Optional: the app works with a city you choose.
The app does not request internet access: it makes no network requests of its own (see section 3). The compass uses your device's motion and magnetic sensors, which need no permission. Sensor readings are used on the device only and are not stored or sent. The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or files.
5. Third-Party Services and Analytics
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. The app contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The only third-party component that handles location is Google Play services (location). The city data bundled in the app comes from GeoNames (geonames.org, CC BY 4.0) and is read from your device.
6. Backup
If Android backup is turned on for your device, the system may include the app's settings, bookmarks, and last location in your device backup (for example in your Google account). This is controlled by your device's backup settings, and Awan Digitals has no access to it.
7. Children's Privacy
The application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with an updated 'Last Updated' date.
