Fake GPS is an Android app for simulating a GPS location on your device using the Android mock location API. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled when you use the app.
2. Location Data
Fake GPS reads your location permission solely to verify that it has been granted, which is required for the mock location feature to function. The app does not track, record, or upload your real GPS location to any server. The coordinates you choose to simulate are processed entirely on your device.
3. Local Storage
The app stores data locally on your device: saved location aliases and coordinates are kept in a local SQLite database, and app state (last used coordinates, running status) is stored in SharedPreferences. None of this data is uploaded to developer servers.
4. Data Collection and Sharing
Fake GPS does not require account registration and does not intentionally collect personal information. The app does not share your personal data with the developer or any third party.
5. Third-Party Services and Advertising
We use third-party advertising services, such as Google AdMob, to provide ads in the app. These services may collect and use information about your interactions with the app, including device identifiers and IP addresses, to provide personalized advertisements. You can manage your ad preferences or opt-out of personalized ads through your device settings.
6. Permissions
The app uses the following Android permissions:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — to verify location permission is granted
- INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — for loading OpenStreetMap tiles and geocoding
- ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — for network connectivity checks
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — for OSMDroid map tile cache on older APIs
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION — to run the mock location service while the app is in the background
- ACCESS_MOCK_LOCATION — to publish mock GPS coordinates via the Android mock location API
7. Children's Privacy
The app is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
