Privacy Policy - Awan PDF

Last updated: August 21, 2026

1. Overview

Awan PDF is developed by Awan Digitals as a fully offline, privacy-focused PDF reader and toolkit for Android. We believe your documents and personal data belong to you. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data the app stores, what device permissions it requests, and why — in plain terms that match how the app is actually built.

2. Information We Collect and Store

Awan PDF does not have user accounts, sign-in, or any cloud backend. The only data the app stores is saved locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences, and it never leaves your device unless you deliberately share a file yourself (e.g. tapping Share). This local data includes:

  • Your recent/library file list — file name, file path, file size, and last-opened date for PDFs you have opened or generated with the app.
  • Reading activity per file — last read page, total page count, bookmark status, read count, and time spent reading, used only to show your progress and reading stats inside the app.
  • App preferences — light/dark theme choice, selected language (English or Indonesian), and the output folder you chose for files the app generates.

None of this data is transmitted to Awan Digitals or any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage permanently removes it.

3. Device Permissions & File Access

To read and manage PDF files on your device, Awan PDF requests the following Android permissions:

  • Storage access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) — used to let you browse and open PDF files already on your device (e.g. in Downloads), to scan for PDFs when you tap the manual refresh/scan action, and to save files created by tools such as Merge, Split, Convert, or Compress to the folder you choose.
  • Open PDF files from other apps — Awan PDF registers itself as a PDF viewer so it can appear in your device's "Open with" chooser and, if you set it as your default PDF reader in Settings, open PDFs directly from your file manager, browser, or other apps. Files opened this way are processed locally and are not uploaded anywhere.

Storage scanning is always manually triggered by you (not automatic in the background), and you can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your device's App Settings.

4. How Your Files Are Processed

All PDF operations — viewing, merging, splitting, organizing, rotating, cropping, signing, compressing, password protection/removal, and format conversion — are performed entirely on your device using local libraries. No PDF content, page image, or file data is ever uploaded to a server, because Awan PDF does not request internet access and contains no networking code.

5. Third-Party Services and Analytics

Awan PDF does not sell, rent, or trade your data, and it does not integrate any advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or crash-reporting service. There are no third-party trackers of any kind embedded in the app.

6. Children's Privacy

Our application does not address anyone under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the updated policy with a revised 'Last Updated' date.
